Tower Bridge Health Club

Funds managed by Albion Ventures invested £2.9 million in Tower Bridge Health Clubs in January 2006. Tower Bridge was a business formed specially to build a health club at More London, the 13 acre development next to Tower Bridge on the Thames. Albion Ventures' partner in this investment is ARK Leisure Management (“ARK”), an experienced health club operator managing a number of clubs on behalf of blue chip companies such as British Airways and the BBC. The investment was made across a number of Albion Ventures' funds. Tower Bridge Health Clubs, run by ARK and funded by Albion Ventures, was chosen by the More London Estate, the company redeveloping the prestigious site. The redevelopment of the entire site is taking place in three phases and the finished project will comprise: a new City Hall building, 300 homes, several office buildings, a 250 bed Hilton hotel, and the health club. The entire development will be complete in 2008 and is expected to accommodate 20,000 workers. The Tower Bridge Health Club (now built) is branded “37 Degrees” and is designed to cater for the well being needs of the More London tenants, including: personal training, medical care, treatment rooms, and hairdressing. It also encompasses a 20 metre swimming pool, sauna, steam room, 5,000sq ft gym, 3 studios and two golf simulators. Aiming at the professional market it will house some unusual features including a substantial medical centre providing a full GP service, executive medical screening and an indoor golf lounge.
